What is PhotoNova PLS3?
The PhotoNova PLS3 system is one of many Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) systems designed to treat pigmented marks without damaging the surrounding tissue. With a range of eight filters, the practitioner can choose the best option for a patient depending on their particular condition and natural skin colour. A sapphire tip cooled to 5°C ensures no damage to the epidermis thereby preventing any open wounds post-treatment.
What Does PhotoNova Treat?
PhotoNova will treat pigmented marks of all kinds. Broken and spider veins are routinely removed with this device, usually within two to three repeat sessions. Port wine stains and general diffuse patches can be easily treated over a number of sessions as well.
One of the benefits of this treatment is the general improvement in the skin’s appearance directly following treatment.
A recent addition to this device has enhanced its treatment capabilities. The PhotoMatrix attachment now allows the practitioner to offer a fractional resurfacing treatment option using the same IPL light energy. By delivering energy deep into the dermis via a compact matrix of hundreds of small ‘dots’ the skin’s repair process is stimulated while leaving adjacent areas untouched. This results in very fast recovery times, typically between one and two weeks.
Who is PhotoNova Good For?
This treatment works well in all skin types (except Afro-Caribbean), particularly in Asian skin where pigmented lesions are very prevalent. In some cases lesions can be removed after just one treatment session with no recurrence. This has been observed in many patients of Chinese origin.
