Oxygen is In

05 March 2008

Oxygen has always been the main ingredient for life. And now, this earthly element is taking on a whole new role. Oxygen is being paired with red and blue light technology to help us lose fat where we don’t want it, and add it where we do. Oxyjet has taken its well known Oxyjet Facial one step further to include Oxyjet Body Slim. This new treatment works to slim, tone, sculpt and rid your body of cellulite.

It always seems that despite how hard we work, there is some area of our body that refuses to shape up. Alternatively, there are always areas that could use a bit of plumping as well, such as lips and bust. With new Oxyjet treatments, a person may do both. The Body Guide got a sneak peak at this new treatment being performed.

How It Works
This non-surgical procedure appears more like a relaxing massage than a treatment for dissolving fat. The model (despite being covered by nothing but a bikini) appeared very calm and relaxed throughout the whole procedure.

The patient lies down throughout the treatment. A therapist first applies a topical Body Slim or Body Firm ointment on the targeted area and begins with a pressurized oxygen treatment. Oxygen probes into the tissue through a wand, which makes a methodical “clicking” noise every time oxygen is released. It helps ointment penetrate into the skin, which breaks down fat cells. Oxygen is a cleansing element and removes toxins from our body, which build up and work to trap in fat.

After creams or oils are applied and a sufficient amount of oxygen has been pumped into our skin, the therapist follows up with a red and blue light treatment. These treatments take the form of wands as well. The lights are visible, and they are gently rolled over the skin. The whole process is very relaxing; one could easily fall asleep during a lunch hour session. The treatment is finished off by a good dose of oxygen to the brain. An oxygen mask is placed over the patient’s mouth while they lay back and enjoy a few more minuets of quiet, leaving them clear headed and ready to tackle the rest of the day. There is no pain or downtime associated with this treatment.

A Bit More on Light Technology
Red light technology appears exactly as it’s described. It is literally a neon red light attached by a removable head at the end of a wand, which is rubbed gently back and forth over the body, its invisible rays penetrating the skin. It reaches deep into the under layers of our skin to stimulate metabolism, which in turn, breaks up fat cells.

Blue light technology puts finishing touches on the skin by cooling and tightening. It also “produces an antibacterial layer over the skin,” which helps expel toxins and keeps skin looking young and healthy. Before a blue light treatment, a spray is applied. Then a wand with a round, rotating, florescent blue head is rolled over the body.

Blue Light technology can improve bust size by 13%. It won’t take the place of breast enlargement surgery, but it is a good alternative to injectibles. It will firm and amplify the breasts, rather than enhance them one or more cup sizes.

How Long Will It Take, How Much Will It Cost?
Treatments usually take 60 minutes and cost around £60 for one area. A total of 10 treatments are recommended, but 6 or 7 should suffice for breast and chin areas. The Oxyjet machine can also treat acne and correct pigmentation or sun spots.

As technology progresses, new treatments continue to pop up that act as alternatives to surgery. Usually, the downtime diminishes, but the cost of treatments rise. One of Oxyjet’s perks is that it is relatively affordable. Another is that it helps replenish a naturally occurring element in our bodies, while combating unwanted toxins and excess fat. If you’re a healthy individual who just can’t seem to shed those few extra pounds at the gym, Oxyjet could be of great use. And there’s nothing wrong with the spa-like treatment that accompanies it.
