Air Out Your Skin
12 March 2008
Oxygen seems to be included in every new “it” treatment coming out this spring! The creators of Thermage® have invented a new skin revitalizing system using air, oxygen and water to treat wrinkles, scarring and acne with the added benefit of enhancing more advanced skin treatments. JetPeel-3™ combines saline (water and salt), air and oxygen for an all natural cleansing treatment that leaves skin feeling nourished and smooth.
The Body Guide was there to witness and, in fact, participate in a treatment. To the observer, the treatment appears extremely soothing. A client is asked to lie down, close their eyes and seemingly drift off to sleep as the practitioner runs a pen-like gadget up and down the contours of the client’s face. A steady, pressurized stream of air, oxygen and water comes out in a burst of cool (not too cold though) air, escaping from a small hole at the end of the pen-like object. Just watching the treatment unfold made my skin feel parched, badly in need of some extra moisture. Excess water dribbled down the client’s face, but was quickly caught and wiped away by the practitioner with a soft cloth. The whole process was carried out like a traditional spa facial – very much an experience to relish in.
What Does JetPeel-3™ Do?
One of the main objectives of JetPeel-3™ is to improve the appearance of the skin. Besides the pleasure you gain from merely having to lay there as someone refreshes and revitalizes your skin, you’re gaining some added health benefits as well. This treatment can be used to unclog pores, to exfoliate the skin’s surface and to remove dead skin cells, leaving skin baby-soft.
After my treatment, results were automatic. As soon as the practitioner was done, I could feel how much softer my skin was and my skin was void of any blotchy spots. The texture of my skin was smooth and appeared porcelain-like.
What Does a Treatment Include?
A full treatment includes picking from 4 naturally occurring nutrients that our skin may be lacking as a result of everyday wear and tear. These nutrients include a mixture of vitamins A and E, vitamin B, vitamin C, or hyaluronic acid. Hyalauronic acid is a naturally occurring ingredient in our connective tissue. It acts as a lubricant within our bodies.
There isn’t any pain or downtime after or during this treatment, it’s mainly for your pleasure and to benefit the health and appearance of your skin. This treatment would indeed be a nice treat after hitting the tanning bed; it would be one of the most refreshing treatments the body could endure. And for those going through other skin care or hair removal treatments, JetPeel-3™ pairs well with IPL (Intense Pulse Light), laser and LED (Light Emitting Diodes). Having a JetPeel-3™ treatment after an IPL or laser treatment helps to enhance results.
How Long Will It Take, How Much Will It Cost?
A facial treatment takes between 30 and 45 minuets and is recommended every 2 weeks. A whole body treatment takes up to 2 hours. A full facial treatment will cost about £150. Even without the added health benefits, this would be something to do when you feel the need to pamper yourself.
